According to Rosabeth Moss Kanter, HBS, Professor of Leadership Studies, ‘surprises are the new normal and resilience is the new skill.’ Resilience is the ability to recover from fumbles or outright mistakes and bounce back. Being able to increase your resiliency is necessary in today’s uncertain and volatile leadership world. The question is how can you develop it. Self-awareness, managing oneself, awareness of others, managing relationships are essential characteristics for resilience. Instead of seeing challenges and limitations as negative, begin to look at them as magnificent gifts that ignite imagination and help us to go farther than we thought we could go. This approach is leadership resilience at its best.
