Software Trainings (Nonprofit Focus)

Hi All,

My name is Cassidy Layman and I'm a VISTA Leader serving at Siena College's program in NY.  Many of our VISTAs are interested in pursuing a career in nonprofits and are looking to add relevant skills to their resumes. Does anyone know of any trainings focused on software fluency? I'm thinking specifically of CRMs but I'm open to other programs as well. We've already done some basic work with excel and budgeting.

Thanks!

Cassidy

Hello Cassidy, you can try your employment office or what we call in Connecticut the Job Center. They usually offer trainings for computer proficiency.  The public library can be a good source for finding training. The community colleges can be helpful also if you dont mind paying for the training.

Hey Cassidy,
I'm a new VL in Honolulu. I would look into Riaser's Edge for CRMs. It's one of the most common CRM for NGOs. But the again it will probably be too costly. Saleforce has an awesome (and totally free) set of comprehensive online tutorials including ones on how to use SF in NGOs. I would check that out and see if you could use that as a base to work off of. There are lots of SF wizards out there offering CRm consulting so you could see if they would be willing to do a training.
