The Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family (GOYFF) works to create a safe, healthy and bright future for all Arizona as envisioned by Governor Doug Ducey. The GOYFF VISTA Leader oversees 17 VISTA Member projects by fostering a support system among VISTAs and their supervisors to build capacity for programs related to Substance Abuse, Domestic Violence, Veteran poverty, volunteer engagement, trauma informed care, tribal relations, and foster youth transition. The GOYFF VISTA Leader recruits VISTAs, coordinates regular checks in with members and site supervisors, collects and monitors member progress in compliance with the VISTA Assignment Description, and promotes awareness of the GOYFF Bright Futures Program. The VISTA Leader assignment would be best served by someone with excellent interpersonal skills, a background or interest in project management, and professional training programs. The program will review applications starting Sep.t 17, 2018 through Oct. 17 and will select the candidate by Oct. 23, 2018. To qualify as a VISTA Leader, you must have already served for one year with AmeriCorps, VISTA, NCCC or the Peace Corps. If you do not meet this pre-requisite, you will not be considered for the VISTA Leader position.


Member Duties : The Leader will play a strategic role in VISTA member recruitment, retention and program participation. The Leader will plan and conduct on-site orientation and training, organize program mandated days-of-service projects, facilitate information sharing and career learning and increase the capacity of VISTAs to complete their VADs. The VISTA Leader will provide feedback to VISTA members based on progress reporting during regular checkins. The GOYFF VISTA Leader will guide professional development, and develop resources that support the Project's growth and development. Ideal candidates are highly skilled in oral and written communication, possess strong interpersonal and public relations skills to interact with diverse population, ability to collaborate with a VISTAs, site supervisors, and CNCS and GOYFF Staff.
