We are recruiting for two VISTA Leaders who will be responsible for leading the fall team consisting of approximately 20 VISTA team members and supporting the full team of approximately 30 members in partnership with the spring VISTA Leader. The Leader serves as an ambassador, facilitator, educator, liaison, mentor, recruiter, and resource generator for the team. Responsibilities include planning training and events for VISTA members, coordinating travel, resolving conflict, solving problems, managing social media content, public speaking, and engaging in professional development. VISTA members across the state serve to fight poverty, and the Leader position plays a critical role in assisting with these efforts. The VISTA Leader position is open to former VISTAs, AmeriCorps members, or Peace Corps volunteers who demonstrated exemplary skills and leadership in community service and will have completed their service by the end of July 2020. This partnership project is managed by the Oregon Health Authority in Portland. The Leader will interact directly with the Project Director and fellow VISTA Leaders to collaborate on various projects that support members in a variety of ways. The Leader will help lead a team of 30 VISTA members who serve at sites throughout Oregon in an effort to fight poverty and increase access to affordable healthcare resources. The team meets regularly, attending various public health and leadership trainings, and participating in national service day projects. The VISTA team members support public health programs such as Behavioral Health, Health Equity, and Vulnerable Population initiatives. The VISTA Leader will serve at our state office in Portland.
