The Quality Coach is responsible for supporting Jumpstart Corps Members in their delivery of Jumpstart’s classroom-based programming to ensure positive outcomes for preschool aged children. The primary responsibilities of the Quality Coach are to provide regular training to Jumpstart Corps Members; to establish and manage strong relationships with preschool partners; and to deliver coaching and modeling on a regular basis to teams of Jumpstart Corps Members in order to strengthen classroom practice. The Quality Coach directly supervises Jumpstart Team Leaders serving as part-time AmeriCorps members and volunteers.
The Quality Coach reports directly to the Director of Programming and works closely with a team comprised of a Volunteer Manager and Program Coordinator.
- Coach Jumpstart Team Leaders and Corps Members using Jumpstart’s quality assurance process to ensure high quality implementation of Jumpstart’s curriculum in preschool classrooms
- Collaborate closely with Volunteer Managers, Program Coordinators, and additional staff on program implementation
- Deliver trainings for Team Leaders and Corps Members on early childhood education, Jumpstart’s curriculum, culturally competent programming, and other relevant topics
- Lead Jumpstart’s child evaluation process in compliance with Jumpstart guidelines
- Design and lead weekly Team Leader Meetings to support Team Leaders to plan, prepare, and deliver Jumpstart sessions in designated classrooms
- Provide 10-16 Jumpstart Team Leaders with systematic supervision and support, consistent and responsive management, and clear ongoing communication, and support Team Leaders in their completion of service, including hours requirements for AmeriCorps members
- Access and refine resources related to coaching and early childhood topics to inform practices
- Effectively collaborate with a program management team, comprised of a Jumpstart Quality Coach and Program Coordinator to ensure high quality program implementation and management
- Contribute to the Quality Coach cohort by sharing resources and best practices, and by engaging others in problem solving and solution generation
- Establish systems to effectively collect and organize child data
- Develop and manage content for the Jumpstart member online platform, MyJstart
- Work with faculty at university partners in the design and management of training and courses
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience
- 2-3 years of prior work experience that includes work in an early childhood classroom or environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood education practices
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with preschool partners and the general community
- Ability to work effectively on a team
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in order to meet key benchmarks as scheduled
- Strong adaptability, organizational, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to creating an inclusive environment and working with diverse populations and communities
- Ability and willingness to travel to assigned locations/sites on an ongoing basis
- Solid public speaking, presentation and written communication skills
- Competency in Microsoft software, especially Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point
- Commitment to Jumpstart’s core values: learning, connection, determination, joy and kindness
- Experience and comfort working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities
- Previous preschool classroom teaching experience
- Prior experience/interest in social justice or diversity, equity, and inclusion work
- Prior experience working with college students and/or long-term volunteers
- Prior experience supervising others, including ability to provide verbal and written feedback
- Experience working in Boston urban environments
- Ability to manage basic fiscal matters
- Requires evening/weekend work at specific times during the program year
- Significant local travel required (approximately 50% of time)
